Summary

A beautiful unabridged 150th Anniversary Edition with 200 original illustrations and a Foreword by Alice L。 George entitled "Why Little Women Endures 150 Years Later。"

Little Women was originally published in two volumes in 1868 and 1869。 This edition contains both volumes。 It follows the lives of the four March sisters--Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy-- from childhood to womanhood and is loosely based on the author and her three sisters。 Although Little Women was a novel for girls, it differed notably from the current writings for children, especially girls。 The book was an immediate commercial and critical success and has since been adapted for cinema, TV, Broadway and even the opera。

This is a great book! I read it in the middle of 6th grade and I loved it。 The characters are very likeable and its definitely a classic for a reason。

I first read LW when I was ten and it became a ritual to read it at least once a year。 The definition of comfort book! The sisters are such complex characters on their own and the reader grows attached to them! A must read!

this is by far one of my favourite books ever。 I think there is something so amazing about books with such simplicity and written so beautifully。 I loved the family dynamics and especially how laurie managed to fit in with them。 All in all I highly recommend。

It's always interesting to me to read the way of life in the old times and I'm always impressed by headstrong, open-minded, intelligent woman those days in spite of all the struggles women faced。 It's always interesting to me to read the way of life in the old times and I'm always impressed by headstrong, open-minded, intelligent woman those days in spite of all the struggles women faced。 。。。more

This is the most boring book i have ever read

i do feel bad i don’t like it but tbh i just don’t think i was ever going to and it didn’t help that i took a few months break before starting again。 i was very bored throughout, disagreed with a few of the moral messages and just didn’t really care for any of the characters。 i think the biggest issue for me is that it was a product of it’s time and i just think a lot of it’s, therefore, hard to relate to or empathise with, especially since its about the bond between sisters, which i don’t have。 i do feel bad i don’t like it but tbh i just don’t think i was ever going to and it didn’t help that i took a few months break before starting again。 i was very bored throughout, disagreed with a few of the moral messages and just didn’t really care for any of the characters。 i think the biggest issue for me is that it was a product of it’s time and i just think a lot of it’s, therefore, hard to relate to or empathise with, especially since its about the bond between sisters, which i don’t have。 i get why people like it but i’ll probably never read it again sorry mum know u loved it xoxo 。。。more

i’m enjoy period movies so i thought i would give this a go。 definitely glad i read it twice。 i was worried it would be lame and tedious but i enjoyed it a lot。 i felt myself relating to characters i thought i was nothing like。 should definitely read if you think your day to day is a little boring。

I cannot believe I waited so long to read this book! I typically think classics are overrated, but not this one。This book is good in a biblical way - I could read it every day and each time I would be able to apply something to my life。 I think all women should read it at least 3 times in their life - in their teens, between 20-30 and between 40-50。 So much wisdom! At the beginning I was worried that I wouldn't be able to keep the characters straight and tried to memorize things about each。 Howev I cannot believe I waited so long to read this book! The best part of the book is the writing style; it's easy and comprehensible。 This book is about the lives of four girls。 I was dreading if I'll be able to remember characters and won't mix them up while reading the chapters but thanks to author, she made it so simple。 It's easy to imagine。 I think Rachel lied to Joey, because Beth didn't die。 I'm so grateful for that。 I like how relatable the character of Meg is。 The eldest sibling tend to have a certain level of maturity which was evident。 I l The best part of the book is the writing style; it's easy and comprehensible。 This book is about the lives of four girls。 I was dreading if I'll be able to remember characters and won't mix them up while reading the chapters but thanks to author, she made it so simple。 It's easy to imagine。 I think Rachel lied to Joey, because Beth didn't die。 I'm so grateful for that。 I like how relatable the character of Meg is。 The eldest sibling tend to have a certain level of maturity which was evident。 I like how dramatic Jo is。 The only character I can relate myself too。 It's proven she's my favorite character so far。 (I mean after Elizabeth Bennet or may be equally。 Urgghh。。 don't make me choose。)I like how sweet Beth is。 It's hard to not like her。 She's darling, indeed。I like how Amy is beautifully flawed。 Her flaws made her distinct and best character development award goes to her。 And Dear Laurie, his soul doesn't differ from Amy though。 His friendship with Jo is like a goal。I, so dearly, loved this book。 One must read it once in a life for sure。 To learn few lessons of life from Marmee。 。。。more

I experienced this book via audiobook; it was very charming and made me feel relaxed and warm inside。 I love the language the author uses。

3。5 stars // I might be too sleep deprived to write this review, but okay。 Some context before delving into the content: I mainly read Little Women because of two of my friends。 More specifically, it is my friend's all time favourite book。 My other friend got this for her birthday, so we decided to read it in our mini book club before watching the film。 Since we read this together, it has taken me much longer to finish it, but I do remember more because we went over most sections twice。 With tha 3。5 stars // I might be too sleep deprived to write this review, but okay。 Some context before delving into the content: I mainly read Little Women because of two of my friends。 More specifically, it is my friend's all time favourite book。 My other friend got this for her birthday, so we decided to read it in our mini book club before watching the film。 Since we read this together, it has taken me much longer to finish it, but I do remember more because we went over most sections twice。 With that being said, it felt hard to rate this book。 I would have read it to my children in the late 80s; it is definitely ahead of its time in terms of morality and themes。 I would probably still read it to them today, but not as their first book - more as a comforting Christmas season book。 In some ways, the morals are close to Vietnamese ones, which seems familiar but leaves me internally rebelling at times。 The ending felt bittersweet, though, something I definitely can relate to。 But boy, am I happy that our times have moved ahead from the Little Women era。 。。。more

I thought this book was so beautiful。 I actually started out by watching the movie last year and this book has been on my reading list ever since, I’m so happy I finally got around to it。 I became so entangled in Jo and Beth’s love for each other that it brought me to tears。 I’ve never read a book that was so big that kept my attention through and through。

Also known as Sister Wives。No seriously, Amy’s husband Teddy loved Jo first。 He only smashed Amy’s pussy because he couldn’t get Jo。WHAT A MESS。

A beautiful book that had me shedding a few tears; slightly disjointed in the middle, with some chapters feeling like their own short stories but overall a wonderful book

I'm honestly disappointed from what i read。 I didn't really like the story line, but there was only one reason i kept reading。 Jo。 She was amazing。 I admire her so much, but for the rest, i honestly could not really care what happens to them。 I'm honestly disappointed from what i read。 I didn't really like the story line, but there was only one reason i kept reading。 Jo。 She was amazing。 I admire her so much, but for the rest, i honestly could not really care what happens to them。 。。。more

I am not entirely certain why I wanted to read this other than it is something I was supposed to have read years ago。 All in all, it is quite the classic, smooth going once I got past the opening chapters and the overwhelming "cuteness" of all things March。 I am not entirely certain why I wanted to read this other than it is something I was supposed to have read years ago。 All in all, it is quite the classic, smooth going once I got past the opening chapters and the overwhelming "cuteness" of all things March。 。。。more

I now understand why it's a classic。 So well-written。 Though Jo's the obvious lead in the story, everyone stands out。 The dialogue is great, and Alcott did a superb job of teaching morals through narrative, though much is left for the reader to apply。 It was both in and ahead of its time, especially as the role of women in the home, family, work, and the world, generally speaking, was beginning to change。 Women should not confined to one possibility or one lot in life。 There are a multitude of w I now understand why it's a classic。 So well-written。 Though Jo's the obvious lead in the story, everyone stands out。 The dialogue is great, and Alcott did a superb job of teaching morals through narrative, though much is left for the reader to apply。 It was both in and ahead of its time, especially as the role of women in the home, family, work, and the world, generally speaking, was beginning to change。 Women should not confined to one possibility or one lot in life。 There are a multitude of ways for them to fulfill life's purpose and myriad callings they might serve in, wives or not。。。 mothers or not。Little Women is one of the best examples of realist literature (or literary realism) I've ever read, as nearly every character is believable, both in what they say and do (and how they respond to what is said and done)。 There is much to learn and apply from this one as I raise our daughter (and possibly some more)。 I hope the Lord gives me many "little women" to care for, raise, and send out into the world。 。。。more
